1. Who we are
Finesse Tuition provides private tuition, educational programmes, academic consultations, learning materials, progress support and related services.
In this policy, “Finesse Tuition”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Finesse Academy LTD trading as Finesse Tuition. “You” means the person whose personal information we process, including a parent, guardian, student, prospective customer or website visitor.
2. Scope of this policy
This policy applies when you visit our websites, complete an application or booking form, purchase tuition, attend a consultation or lesson, use our learning platforms, contact us, receive communications from us or otherwise interact with Finesse Tuition.
Third-party websites and platforms may have their own privacy policies. We recommend reading those policies when you use services provided directly by those organisations.
3. Personal information we collect
Identity and contact details
Names, email addresses, telephone numbers, postal and billing addresses, parent or guardian details and relationship to the Student.
Student and educational details
Age, school year, school, subject, examination board, current and target grades, academic goals, lesson notes, attendance, progress and learning needs.
Account and booking details
Login details, bookings, appointments, consultation information, communication preferences and records of interactions with our services.
Payment and transaction details
Payment status, amounts, dates, billing details and limited payment information supplied by payment providers. We do not normally store complete payment-card details ourselves.
Communications and media
Emails, messages, telephone notes, support requests, feedback, testimonials and lesson or consultation recordings where recording is used and lawful.
Technical and usage data
IP address, browser, device type, operating system, referral source, pages viewed, actions taken, timestamps, cookie identifiers and similar analytics information.
Please do not send us medical, disability or other sensitive information unless it is relevant to providing appropriate educational support. Where we need to process special-category information, we will identify a lawful condition for doing so and apply additional safeguards.
4. Children’s personal information
Many Students using our services are under 18. We therefore take additional care when handling children’s information and aim to collect only what is reasonably necessary to provide safe and effective tuition.
A parent or legal guardian will normally enrol a child, provide payment details and act as the primary contact. Depending on age and circumstances, a child may also have their own data protection rights and may be able to exercise those rights directly.
We do not knowingly use children’s personal information for behavioural advertising. We do not publish a child’s name, image, voice, results or testimonial for promotional purposes without an appropriate lawful basis and any consent required.
5. Where we obtain information
We may obtain personal information:
- directly from you through forms, calls, emails and messages;
- from a parent, guardian or Student;
- from our tutors and staff through lesson and progress records;
- from booking, CRM, learning, video-conferencing and payment platforms;
- from cookies and similar technologies used on our websites;
- from social-media or advertising platforms where you interact with us; and
- from publicly available sources where lawful and relevant.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider whether our interests are necessary and balanced against your rights and reasonable expectations. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
8. International transfers
Some providers may process or store personal information outside the United Kingdom. Where this creates a restricted international transfer, we will use a lawful transfer mechanism.
This may include UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to approved standard contractual clauses, or another safeguard permitted by data protection law. Where required, we also assess whether the transfer provides an appropriate level of protection.
9. How long we keep personal information
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including to meet contractual, safeguarding, accounting, tax, legal and dispute resolution requirements.
- Enquiry information is normally retained for no longer than 12 months after the last meaningful communication, unless the person becomes a customer or asks to continue receiving communications.
- Customer, lesson and transaction records may be kept for the duration of the relationship and for an appropriate period afterwards to meet legal, financial and evidential needs.
- Marketing information is retained until consent is withdrawn, an objection is made or the information is no longer needed, subject to keeping a minimal suppression record where necessary.
- Cookie durations vary and are described through our cookie controls or cookie information where available.
We may retain anonymised information that can no longer identify an individual for statistical and service-improvement purposes.
10. How we protect information
We use proportionate technical and organisational safeguards designed to prevent personal information from being accidentally lost, altered, disclosed, accessed or used without authorisation.
Measures may include access controls, authentication, confidentiality requirements, staff guidance, secure service providers, backups and procedures for responding to suspected personal-data breaches.
No online system or transmission method is completely secure. If a breach creates a legal requirement to notify you or the Information Commissioner’s Office, we will do so.

A parent or guardian may make a request on behalf of a child where they have authority to do so, but the child’s own rights and best interests will also be considered.

We may send information about our tuition services, educational resources and offers where you have consented or where another lawful route permits us to do so.
You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe option in an email, replying to a message or contacting [email protected]. Opting out of marketing will not stop essential communications about bookings, payments, lessons or existing services.
